On Sunday October 3rd, art enthusiasts, collectors, artists and celebrities gathered for the ‘10 Artists for Ruinart’ Auction at The London hotel in Los Angeles. Ruinart champagne house partnered with Art Platform – Los Angeles, the premier contemporary art fair, to present the artwork in an intimate, private gathering.
Guests included actress Anne Hathaway, actress Carla Gallo, television personality Kristen Nedopak, director Joie Jacoby, presenter Alexander Gilkes and Los Angeles Times Art Critic David Pagel, among many others.
The auction itself contained ten pieces of contemporary art donated by various artists around the country. Dane Storrusten (represented by Greg Reid) was one of ten artists chosen to represent Seattle, WA. Each artist was commissioned to create a unique piece specifically for Ruinart in the artist’s individual style. Storrusten’s work titled “Erotic Celebration” was one of the pieces purchased by a private buyer to benefit charity this Sunday.
The art was first presented to the public during Art Basel Miami Beach in December 2010. Auction proceeds went to The Art of Elysium, a Los Angeles based nonprofit organization providing services to children in need.
